What is IELTS?
IELTS, the International English Language Testing System, is designed to assess the language ability of candidates who need to study or work where English is used as the language of communication. IELTS is jointly managed by the British Council , the University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations and IDP: IELTS Australia. IELTS conforms to the highest international standards of language assessment. It covers the four language skills - listening, reading, writing and speaking.
IELTS is recognised by around 4,000 of universities and employers in many countries, including Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the UK and the USA.

If you are planning to undertake non-academic training or apply for immigration to the UK, Australia, Canada or New Zealand, we recommend you take the General Training Reading and Writing modules.
You will be tested in listening, reading, writing and speaking whichever module you decide to take. Please make sure that you register for the correct module of the test. Check the requirements with your prospective institution or sponsor.
